Why should you choose Todtnau?
Todtnau is located in Germany and it is an attraction point for those who want to see the impressive waterfall.
One day trip here can be made very easily from Basel by train, around 1 hour and than by bus around 30 minutes.
The RVL provides a Team card, a valuable deal so you can enjoy all transportation (train, bus, tram) with a very good price for a group between 2 and 5 persons. ( 20 euros).

Zell is a train station from where bus 7300 leads you to Todnau. As you exit the bus station in Todtnau, straight ahead a few meters on the right is the tourist information from where you can pick up interesting informations about trails for hiking or path to see the waterfall. Also you reach by bike from Zell, bike path is available.
All over the town you will see a sort of a symbol which is like a hat with little red balls. A local explained me that is not traditional from Todtnau but is well known after a movie and is a traditional hat for women from some villages of Black forest. If the hat is with red that means that the lady is not married, and if the hat is black the woman who is wearing is definitely married.
There are markets from where you can grab water or you can enjoy a coffee and a breakfast just 1 min walk away of the tourist information. Also a couple of restaurants, Italian or traditional as you choose.
The big cathedral with two towers located in the middle of the town, up to a hill is the starting point of the hiking trail to the waterfall, through the Black Forest.
The trail is well marked with a blue sign.
Once you reach the waterfall I do recommend to go up on the stairs to see the other waterfall after the bridge, which is hidden from your sight without a little climbing.
While you hike you can also find a little spot with souvenirs in a wooden box on a tree and a collecting money box.
Also across the cathedral for the brave ones the bobsled route awaits. A chairlift will climb you just to the right spot for your bobsled ride.
